A TRIP TO SCARBOROUGH by Richard Brinsley Sheridan Directed by Beccy Patterson Performance Dates 22nd to 29th May 2010
First produced in 1777, A Trip to Scarborough sits between The Rivals and The School for Scandal in Sheridan’s limited but memorable writing career. Penniless Tom Fashion arrives at the Royal Hotel to try to persuade his older and richer brother, Lord Foppington, to part with some of his money. Failing to do this, he impersonates his brother in a bid to marry an heiress, the innocent daughter of a country squire, Sir Tunbelly Clumsy. Full of intrigue and mistaken identity this is classic English comedy at its best and will be the perfect end to our season.
Booking opens 13th March 2010 |
