October 20th to 27th 2012 The Careful Glover by Jim Baines
♦ RSC Open Stages Season ♦
The plot of "The Careful Glover" is an invention. Only bits and scraps are known about the great playwright’s private life and even less about his death. In this riveting telling of Shakespeare’s final day on earth, it is the very real politics of the time that step in to drive the action. Part family drama and part murder mystery THE CAREFUL GLOVER conjures up the possibility that Shakespeare’s retirement to Stratford in 1616 was only a prelude to literary fireworks that might burn down the world of Elizabethan theatre. in partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company |

Chads Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company Join Forces
Not a headline you would expect to see every day of the week! But true enough in its way: Chads’ proposal for the RSC’s Open Stages project has been accepted.
RSC Open Stages is a new project that aims to embrace, develop and celebrate amateur theatre, re-forging the bond with the world of professional theatre. Over 2011 and 2012 the RSC, in partnership with a number of regional theatres and amateur theatre associations, will run a national programme of skills sharing events and showcases, with amateur societies from across the UK invited to produce their own RSC branded Shakespeare themed production.
In October 2012 Chads Open Stages production will be The Careful Glover by Canadian author Jim Baines. This is an unpublished work that had its professional premiere in the USA in September 2009 and this will mark its UK premiere.
